As a bonus we will select a film as a group that we can watch together on line and discuss (with appropriate DA preparation, snacks and so on) OR meet to have a Dark Academia adventure or quiz before for a glass to celebrate our DA community

What is Dark Academia ?
A popular aesthetic inspired by academia and an interest in books and beauty.
Fun but also allows creative and critical thinking for those who want it.
DA can add joy to the everyday and appreciation of what we have, both big concepts and life’s small pleasures.
How did it start ?
As a community or internet aesthetic it began in the early 2000s but flourished particularly from 2020 influenced by lockdowns. We will discuss why the pandemic saw a rise in DA popularity and how this led to different strands of the DA culture.
Do I need an academic qualification to enjoy the course?
No! There are no exams or assessments. This is just a chance to learn about something new which we hope will enrich your experience of the world around you, bring together interests you already have and perhaps inspire new ones. It is also a chance to meet others with similar interests. There is no pressure to share your work with the group.
Do I need to have any special equipment to take part?
No all texts and images will be provided.
